Essential Guide to College!
Hi there! Peyton here! Here is my essential guide to college. College is so exciting but also very intimidating and scary! In this blog, I am going to try and ease your fears by preparing you the best I can! As always share your opinion!
(#1) College can be so intimidating and scary! But I am here to tell you all things that I was I knew before going to college and hopefully, I can help someone out there! The first thing I wish I knew before college was to attend any freshman camp that your school is providing! At Tarleton, it's called duck camp and at A&M it's called fish camp! These are so important because you learn so much information and make a lot of friends! It can be helpful to have familiar faces on move-in day! I didn't go to duck camp and I regretted it so much.
(#2) My next piece of advice would be to get out there and meet people. Whether it's making conversation with a classmate or going greek or joining a student organization, whatever it is, do it! The best way to make friends is by joining groups that you are interested in and putting yourself out there. Speaking from experience, as the girl who had no friends her entire freshman year, you will find your group eventually!
(#3) Next, worry about your grades before the last week of class. If you are watching your grades and asking for extra credit or help before you need it, you will never need it! Even if you have an A, do the extra credit. Also, never be afraid to contact your professors or teachers aids! Also always introduce yourself to your teachers on the first day of class! It makes you more rememberable because no one does it! (They actually appreciate it a lot!)
(#4) Don't waste your time doing things you don't enjoy, or won't benefit you. Life is short, don't waste it being unhappy. And (#5) Don't allow anyone to treat you badly.
And (#6) Don't give up! If I would have given up freshman year, I wouldn't be in Phi Mu or have the friends, big or little that I have or have my dog. College isn't for everyone and if you learn it's not for you, it's not failing, it's finding your path.
I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason. There have been so many times when I didn't get a job or something I wanted and I was so upset and then someone else happened that was so much better!
XOXO,
Peyton ♥
